at UCSD, i graduated with a bachelors degree from music department for the Interdisciplinary Computing Arts Major (ICAM). first of all, the ICAM major required completion of courses from the visual arts department and music department to graduate. the music courses i studied were for software music programming (pd/msp/max) and music studio work. so most of my projects that i can display online are from the visual arts courses. as you will find out, these are some pretty high end projects! but seriously, it was my first few years in new media and needless to say, these are a little rough around the edges. way to go! enjoy…

2003

SGR

- first attempt in new media. some really polished graphics and sound. yikes...

Infinity
Loops of Echer

- so these two projects were weakly based on the idea of infinity. truly i didn't like the assignment and made this in spite of my T.A., Nat.

Wanna Be Starting Something Remix - 1   2

- some audio editing examples. again, yikes!!!

2004

Low-Res Firetree
Attack Cats

- some photoshop examples; low resolution version of an image and image manipulation.

Charming Couple
Are You Popular

- these two videos are cut up old public service announcements with dubbed in audio from other service announcements.

Angel
Amy's Flower

- animations
.

The Booth

- an interactive dj booth. click the records to change songs.

Beats

- an interactive beat mixer. use the mouse and keyboard to make music. you will need a shockwave player to run the mixer. shockwave player, this is an older program so there are browser limitations.

Rumi's Chaos

- a interactive maze of letters that reveals Rumi's poetry. this file is really big and will take a few minutes to download even with a high speed connection. it's really not finished but still pretty cool. again you will need a shockwave player.

2005

Rhizomatic Thoughts

- rhizomatic is defined in this link, but the idea was to read assigned literature and then basically blog about it in a rhizomatic way. a infinite tunnel of information without structure and you understand that right? exactly...

"The Children of Heracles" - 1   2

- sound design examples, two of the same really. the first is the radio version of the play and second is for the theatrical stage version.

The Amy Listen Foundation
  Promo Video  -  Music

- so in 2004 i started working on my senior project, a online interactive dj console to allow users the ability to dj from their computer to anyone listening on the internet. but as life goes, my best friend of 17 years Amy, died from Cystic Fibrosis (CF). in the presence of such a great loss i felt i should do more than just build games on the internet. so i created The Amy Listen Foundation, a foundation to help people with the disease CF. i then changed my project to the creation of the foundation’s website talf.net. i did all the graphic design, coding as well as video and music recording, production and streaming for the website. needless to say it was a rough year and after completing setup of the company and site, i had to step back from it all. the foundation is currently dormant.
